Nike Just Did It - They Sacked Michael Vick
“Just Do It,” and that’s what Nike finally did!
It looks like all the pressure on Nike has finally paid off. Earlier today, Nike suspended the sponsorship contract of Mike Vick without pay. They also suspended the sale of all Michael Vick merchandise pending the trial, which supposedly starts November 26.
“As we’ve said before, Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent,” Nike said in a written statement. “However, we do believe that Michael Vick should be afforded the same due process as any citizen in the United States, therefore, we have not terminated our relationship.”
It also looks like Adidas followed pursuit by ordering their Reebok division to stop selling Michael Vick jerseys too.
It’s my prediction that the NFL will follow suit!

I agree with the writer who wants to put Vick into a ring for three rounds with some pit bulls. But include the event half-time of the opening Atlanta game.

I am so angered by the thought of ANYONE - Plan Jane, John Doe, a Football Player, or a Big Wig on their High Horse - abusing a defenseless animal. These dogs are not born this way - they are raised this way!!! They get a bad rap because human beings misuse them. Vick makes much more money that he is worth already - why would he have to stoop to this sort of abuse to make more??? I would love to see Vick locked in a room with about 5 of the dogs he trained to be mean and let them slowly torture him!!!! I read where his lawyer said “Vick is a son, he is a father, he is a human being”. Vick should have thought about all of that before he tortured these poor dogs. As far as I am concerned he deserves the death penalty - a very slow, painful death!!!

I contacted Nike after Vick’s plea asking if they are going to sever (not suspend) ties with Vick. Here’s what they said:
As you are aware, Nike has suspended Michael Vick’s contract without pay, and will not sell any more Michael Vick product at Nike owned retail at this time. As we’ve said before, Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent. However, we do believe that Michael Vick should be afforded the same due process as any citizen in the United States, therefore, we have not terminated our relationship. Nike’s position has not changed based upon the statement that was issued by Mr. Vick’s attorney on August 20, 2007. We appreciate that you took the time to contact us and your feedback will be passed along to the proper department.
Interesting to see what they’ll do when Monday comes around and additional details (not all of them because Vick pleaded instead of piling on more indictments) are released.

Mike Vick runs with the dumbest human beings that can’t speak english properly. It is like watching Comedy Central when his stupid fellow players try to defend him. The dogs have more brains than the whole group of idiots that come to Mike Vicks defense.
